Back to Horshoebay Texas

David, Braylon, and I flew to Austin this weekend to spend some time with my dad at his summer home in Horshoebay, Texas. WOW! What a great time we had! I wish I could have stayed for a month, because it was truly just what the doctor ordered. My dad's house is gorgeous and right on the lake of LB Johnson. Our morning coffee was accompanied by the boaters and jet-skiers passing by and our evenings were welcomed with the stars and calm waters. Braylon had a great time on Grandpa's boat, so much it would put him to sleep every time we went out for a ride. David and I had a great time 'racing' each other on the jet skis and laying out on the dock for afternoon naps.

Aside from the relaxation, Texas sure did have some good eaten! Dad took us to many delicious places, one including an amazing BBQ place where we actually picked our meat straight off the pit, wrapped it up, and ate it on butcher paper while sitting arm and arm next to other diners on a picnic table. The experience was amazing and I cannot wait to head back to that part of the country for some more texas-style grub!

We are so blessed to start building memories with my dad again. It's almost as if no time has passed and we are ever so grateful with our time together. The Lord has done some amazing things in my family's life this summer and I can't wait to see how things progress.

The latest milestones...

Braylon took his first steps on last month. However, he started fully walking on July 8th! It's the funniest thing to watch a baby learn how to walk. Like a drunkard sailor, or "Frankenstein" as daddy likes to call him, Braylon becomes so proud when he goes from one side of the room to the other without falling down. It is so cute to see him light up with this feeling of accomplishment. Now that he is walking, that means he is getting more and more mischievous and less and less easier to manage. One minute he's right in front of me, the next he's down the hall and in my office, getting into my filing cabinet. He know's what he's doing too, because the second I catch him he giggles and runs away. Aside from walking, some other big moments is that he started drinking out of a sippy cup! Yes, this is a HUGE deal to me. I feared for so long that I was going to have that kid that was 3 years old with a bottle in his mouth. Randomly, while out to eat last weekend he took his cup during a tantrum he was throwing, tilted his head back, and walla started drinking. I was so excited and nearly as happy as I was when he took his first steps. Awww, the joys of our children!

Braylon has definitely taken after his mommy and has become quite the social butterfly. He has a blast meeting and visiting with people regarding their age or position. Rather it's the 4 year old cutie at the baby gym or the 70 year old gramma in front of us at the check out line, Braylon will batt his eyes, crack smiles, and talk up a storm in his own little language. It is so funny to see him interact with strangers, it makes me a little nervous at just how "friendly" he will be as he grows older. Braylon has been lucky to have plenty of play dates to keep his little heart content. Let's see, for starters he visited the Children's museum with Adelyn and Jude. He's also gone to Parker's house for some playtime and enjoyed creating a mess in his haven. And of course, there's always extra time for the best neighbors ever, Maxx and Hudson.

Our property management business, KC Property Group has been completely swamped these days! It's been truly a blessing to have this opportunity to be self-employed with a successful business, especially in these rough economic times. We give all the praise to God for trusting us with this opportunity and look forward to what is enstore in our future. For now, I continue to work my tale off at being a working mom while managing a household and taking care of a toddler. David has been an amazing help and I honestly couldn't do what I do without his support. There are days when he will work 10 hours all night at the airport to come home and work out in the field for another 3-4 hours in the heat, with no sleep, to be with me. Due to the high temperatures these days and complete boredom for a 1 year old to be stuck in a car seat, Bray has been able to kept with my tradition and had some playtime at the same childcare that I not only worked at my senior year in high school, but also attended while I was a youngster. It's so fun to relive some of those moments as a parent. The facility hasn't changed much and even has a lot of the same staff. It will be fun to share those memories with Bray has he gets older that "mommy used to work here".

First day at "play-school"

Fathers' Day was one of the best days that I have had in a very long time. Things were very different this year, and extremely special. A few days leading up to the day, JJ and I had lunch with my Dad. After being estranged with our dad since our parents divorce, it was incredible to sit down over a meal and enjoy each others company. It had been 13 years since the three of us had been together and the day would kick off an amazing fathers day weekend and the start of a new beginning. On Sunday, David, Braylon, and I spent the day with my brother and his family, and my mom at "Wet N' Wild" water park. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed each other. It was fun to take the girls to the wave pool and down a few slides. Next year will be great when Kaylynn will be tall enough to go on some of the big rides. That evening, David, JJ, Jennie, and I took my dad out for a delicious fathers day meal at no other than "Famous Daves BBQ". For those of you that know us well, know that we should own stock in Famous D's. David would eat at this place daily if he could. We had a great time laughing and talking about the "good ole' days". I am so happy that God brought us together again, and look forward to the memories shared ahead. I feel like a peice of my heart has been repaired and stitched back in place. God is so good, and I will be forever grateful for His love, grace, and mercy.

Happy Father's Day Daddy!

Day of fun at the Water Park!

A Father's Day to remember!

1 year photo shoot

I was so excited this time around to get Braylon's pictures taken. His 6 months photos didn't turn out so hot, because we couldn't get him to crack a smile for anything! We were hoping for things to be different this time, and they were. We returned back to Saguaro Ranch park which is where we had our maternity photos done. It was fun to "re-live" that location with Braylon outside of my tummy, Despite the triple digit heat that Saturday morning, our talented subject was ready for the spot light. He brought a good attitude and a big smile for the majority of the shoot. Photos were taken by an amazing photographer, Chad Koeber of Urbane Photography. He documented Teffanie's wedding and is so talented! We got a lot a fantastic pictures, here are just a few

4th of July Weekend, Staycation II

We kept with tradition of last year and decided to fight the heat for the 4th. This year, we stayed at the Point Tapito hotel in North Phoenix and had a nice and relaxing time pool side with both sides of the family. As always, Braylon enjoyed the time with his cousins and loved getting a "tan". We enjoyed pool side late night movies, bbq's, and fireworks. It was a really nice time and a "vacation" to remember.
